I started reading 1 Timothy a few days ago. I decided to post a few verses every day, which I did. But then I wanted to make a new blog, to keep the verses apart from my other blog.
These are the verses I have posted on my other blogsite http://puritygirl86.livejournal.com/
until now:
1 Timothy 2
Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 6:45 PM
1 Timothy 2:8-15.
8I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. 9I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. 11A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. 12I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. 13For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. 15But women[a] will be saved[b] through childbearing—if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
1 Timothy 2:15 Greek she
1 Timothy 2:15 Or restored
1 Timothy 3
Mar. 3rd, 2009 at 9:03 PM
1 Timothy 3:11,14b, 15b
11In the same way, their wives[b] are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything. 14...I am writing you these instructions so that, 15...you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God's household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
b. 1 Timothy 3:11 Or way, deaconesses
1 Timothy 4
Mar. 4th, 2009 at 9:53 PM
1 Timothy 4:4-5, 12-15
4For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. 12Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. 13Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching. 14Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. 15Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.
From now on I will post verses here.
